So, today is my first blog…ever.

I wanted to tell you about some of my food adventures. First of all ,I believe it is important to take food adventures because we are creatures of habit and occasionally we need to break out of our molds. Only when we do this will we grow, mature, expand our minds and renew our thinking. Each of these things will help us to enhance our palette. This is true in so many areas of our lives but for this moment, I am just talking about food.

So, last night we experienced Egyptian cuisine with some friends of ours. It was truly sensational. My husband and I have some very good friends who love to expand their food experiences and we adventure out together. Last night, we set out on a culinary tour of Egypt without even leaving Wisconsin.

We cooked most of the day these extravagant dishes making 4-5 dishes each, ending in about 10 different taste sensations. I did mess up however and made the national dish of Ethiopia. It starts with and “E” and is fairly close to Egypt. Whoops! It’s so easy to get off track. Regardless, the dish from Ethiopia, Doro Wat, was just phenomenal. We might have to go on a tour of that country too because the appetizer, so to speak, was delicious.

Let me just tell you about one of the ten dishes that we made. It was a salad with watermelon, cucumber, a brown rice Quinoa mixture with garlic, feta cheese, sea salt and black pepper. These are flavors that I would most likely have never put together but for the boldness of my adventurous spirit. I was so pleasantly amazed. Sometimes I need to be pushed out of my comfort zone so that my mind can be expanded and all of the sudden I become more willing to try things that I haven’t tried before.

We are here on earth to encourage one another and so with my little story of boldness in relation to one food choice among many, I hope this helps you to step out of your comfort zone. It never hurts to try and most of the time, we find ourselves pleasantly surprised.
